Recent clearing of vegetation and fires at Enys EstateAdded by wendy, July 21st, 2016 at 13:40pm
Statement from Enys Estate regarding recent fires:
"The Enys Estate has been clearing vegetation infected with the Phytophthora Ramorum disease over the last few years after a Statutory Plant Health Notice was served on the Estate, requiring them to carry out the work to prevent further spreading of the disease throughout the area. The works are reaching their conclusion with the area of woodland closest to Mylor Bridge being cleared this summer. Due to the ground conditions in this area the works can only take place during the summer months and the Estate is obliged to burn the vegetation in situ. We appreciate that this has caused some concern in the village due to the smoke generated by the fires and have been liaising with the Environmental Health Officer and the Local Councillor over the past few weeks. We have adjusted the burning regime to reduce any inconvenience but we are also reliant to a certain extent on the weather. At present, we anticipate that the works will continue until the end of August 2016. The Estate apologises if the completion of these vital works cause any disturbance to inhabitants of the village."
